Hello from efelle’s Support Team!
This article covers how to add a YouTube or Vimeo video to a page in the Fusion v4 application. If this process does not work for you, or if you run into any problems adding a video to your website, please let us know by submitting a support ticket and we would be happy to help!
To add a video to your website, you will first need to upload that video to YouTube or Vimeo. These services handle hosting the file, as well as serving the video at different sizes depending on the device being used to view the page, which helps minimize the impact of videos on the speed of your website. Instructions for uploading your video to either service can be found at the links below:
Once your video is uploaded to one of these services, you can follow the instructions below to get the Share link or embed code that will be needed to add the video to your website.
Getting the YouTube Share Link or Embed Code
To get the YouTube Share Link or Embed Code, you will first need to visit the video's page on YouTube. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEzD-Y97ges. From here, you can click the 'Share' button below the video on the right.
In the popup window that appears after clicking the share button, select the Embed option. This will open a new window where you can copy the embed code or the URL within the embed code.
Once you have the Share Link or Embed Code for your video, you can skip to Adding the Video to Your Website in Fusion.
Getting the Vimeo Share Link or Embed Code
To get the Vimeo Share Link or Embed Code, you will first need to visit the video's page on Vimeo. Example: https://vimeo.com/100902001. From here, you can click the 'Share' button at the top right of the video.
In the popup window that appears after clicking the share button, you can copy the embed code or the URL within the embed code.
It is important to note that Vimeo automatically adds a link below the video to view it on the Vimeo website. If you do not want to include this link, I recommend copying only the URL from the embed code. Once you have the Share Link or Embed Code for your video, you can skip to Adding the Video to Your Website in Fusion.
Using Video Hosting Platforms Other Than YouTube and Vimeo
If you would like to use a different service to host your video, you will need to be sure that service offers a way to embed the video on your website. Usually, embedding a video requires the use of an iframe, but some services may use different methods. If you have a question about the service you would like to use, please submit a support ticket and we would be happy to advise on whether that service can be used on Fusion.
Adding the Video to Your Website in Fusion
Now that you have copied the Embed Code or Share Link for your video, you can add it to any page in Fusion that contains the editor toolbar by placing your cursor where you would like the video to appear on the page and selecting the YouTube tool at the bottom right of the toolbar.
This will open a popup window where you can paste the embed code or share link you copied in the previous steps. If you copied the full embed code, you can paste it into the text box at the top of the window. If you copied only the share link from the embed code, you can paste it into the second box labeled 'Paste YouTube or Vimeo Video URL'.
Once you have pasted the share link or embed code, you can select the 'OK' button at the bottom of the window to add your video to the page. Once you have saved your changes to the page, the video should begin appearing on your website!
